Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

DigitalVet is designed with a local-first, privacy-first approach. Here is what we collect:

• Data you enter directly: Patient records, animal details, owner contacts, visit notes, vaccination records, and appointment data. This is stored locally on your device.
• Crash reports (optional): If you opt in, anonymized crash logs may be sent to help us fix bugs. These contain no patient or personal data.
• No analytics by default: We do not track your usage, location, or behaviour within the app unless you have explicitly opted in.

2. How We Use Your Information

Data you enter into DigitalVet is used solely to provide the app's core record-keeping features:

• Displaying and managing patient records
• Generating vaccination and appointment reminders
• Populating your dashboard with practice statistics

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.

3. Data Storage & Security

All records are stored locally on your Android device using encrypted local storage. We do not operate any cloud servers that store your patient data. If you uninstall the app, your local data is deleted automatically.

• Data is encrypted at rest on your device
• Optional PIN and biometric authentication
• No third-party servers receive your patient records
• Backups are stored only on your own device or your chosen cloud storage (e.g. Google Drive — governed by Google's policies)

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal or patient data with any third parties, period. The only exception is if we are required to do so by Kenyan law or a valid court order, in which case we will notify you to the extent permitted by law.

5. Third-Party Services

The app may use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Google Play Services – for app delivery and updates
• Firebase Crashlytics (opt-in only) – anonymous crash reporting

6. Children's Privacy

DigitalVet is intended for use by professional veterinarians and livestock officers aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.

7. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Access and export your records at any time from within the app
• Delete individual records or all data via Settings → Clear All Data
• Request data deletion by contacting us (see below)

8. Data Deletion

You can delete all app data at any time by going to Settings → Clear All Data within the app, or by uninstalling the application. For remote deletion requests, please visit our Data Deletion page or email us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and post a notice in the app. Continued use of DigitalVet after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
